Welcome to the University of Exeter Journal Guide

The Journal Guide helps you as a researcher at University of Exeter to identify open access options when publishing in different journals. Search by journal title, keywords or ISSN to discover journals in your research area. Check if journals are included in publisher agreements (discounts, or no APCs).

This is a new tool, we’d love your feedback: on this Microsoft form.

Vegetation Ecology and Diversity

ISSN: 2280-1855eISSN: 2704-6192
DOAJ Logo

Vegetation Ecology and Diversity is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal owned and published by the Italian Society of Vegetation Science (SISV).

The journal publishes original research articles covering all aspects of vegetation, ranging from plant communities to landscapes, including dynamic processes and community ecology. It prioritizes papers that emphasize plant community ecology and vegetation surveys to advance ecological models, interpret and classify vegetation, map ecosystems, assess environmental quality, manage and conserve plant biodiversity, and interpret and monitor European habitats. Submissions are expected to be grounded in rigorous, quantitative analyses of physical and biological components.

The journal welcomes territorial studies across various geographic scales and accepts contributions focused on applied research, provided they present innovative methodological approaches and a thorough, up-to-date vegetation analysis.

Vegetation Ecology and Diversity supports the Italian Vegetation Database VegItaly (member of the Global Index of Vegetation-Plot Databases - GIVD EU-IT-001) and urges the contributing Authors to store their vegetation data in it.

From 2012 to 2024, the journal was named Plant Sociology, and its content is accessible via this link. Vegetation Ecology and Diversity succeeds Plant Sociology [2012–2024, ISSN 2704-6192 (online), ISSN 2280-1855 (print)], which was formerly Fitosociologia [1990–2011, ISSN 1125-9078] and Notiziario della Società Italiana di Fitosociologia [1964–1989, ISSN 1120-4605], the historical journals of the Italian Society of Vegetation Science (SISV).

Vegetation History and Archaeobotany

ISSN: 0939-6314eISSN: 1617-6278

Vegetation History and Archaeobotany publishes research papers, review articles and short contributions of high quality from Europe, the Americas and around the world. It covers the entire field of vegetation history, exploring the development of flora and vegetation during the Holocene (and also the Pleistocene) era, and includes related subjects such as palaeoecology. The journal places interest on human impact upon the natural environment in prehistoric and medieval times. This is reflected in pollen diagrams as well as in plant macroremains from archaeological contexts. Recent topics have included vegetation, fire and climate dynamics as indicated by pollen and charcoal analysis; preliminary results from a dendroecological study of a sub-fossil pine woodland in NW Germany; the significance of low pollen accumulation rates in estimation tree population, and more. The Editor-in-Chief is Felix Bittmann, Niedersächsisches Insitut für historische Küstenforschung, Wilhelmshaven, Germany.

Vehicle System Dynamics

ISSN: 0042-3114eISSN: 1744-5159

Vehicle System Dynamics is an international journal, providing a source of information for the vehicle engineer and the applied scientist. The journal emphasizes the theoretical background of research and development problems of all kinds of road, rail and other ground based vehicles. Main topics are: * Dynamics of vehicle systems and their components including suspension, steering, braking, chassis systems, noise-vibration-harshness, power train * Control of motion and forces affecting vehicle behaviour * Computer aided modelling and simulation, validation, parameter identification and testing, driver modelling * Vehicle interactions with the environment including wheel-rail and tyre-ground behaviour * Active Safety Systems including collision and derailment warning, avoidance and mitigation * Intelligent vehicles, guided vehicles, automated traffic systems related to vehicle dynamics, unconventional vehicles All published research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by independent expert referees. Authors are advised that all papers submitted to Vehicle Dynamic Systems must fit the following criteria: * Address a topic related to both vehicle systems AND dynamics * Relate to the dynamics of the vehicle and its environment * Provide archivable technical information of interest to the vehicle system dynamics community.

Vehicular Communications

ISSN: 2214-2096eISSN: 2214-210X
Vehicular communications is a growing area of communications between vehicles and including roadside communication infrastructure. Advances in wireless communications are making possible sharing of information through real time communications between vehicles and infrastructure. This has led to applications to increase safety of vehicles and communication between passengers and the Internet. Standardization efforts on vehicular communication are also underway to make vehicular transportation safer, greener and easier.

The aim of the journal is to publish high quality peer–reviewed papers in the area of vehicular communications. The scope encompasses all types of communications involving vehicles, including vehicle–to–vehicle and vehicle–to–infrastructure. The scope includes (but not limited to) the following topics related to vehicular communications:

  • Vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communications
  • Channel modelling, modulating and coding
  • Congestion Control and scalability issues
  • Protocol design, testing and verification
  • Routing in vehicular networks
  • Security issues and countermeasures
  • Deployment and field testing
  • Reducing energy consumption and enhancing safety of vehicles
  • Wireless in–car networks
  • Data collection and dissemination methods
  • Mobility and handover issues
  • Safety and driver assistance applications
  • Standardization of protocols
