Journal Guide

Neuropharmacology publishes high quality, original research and review articles within the discipline of neuroscience, especially articles with a neuropharmacological component. However, papers within any area of neuroscience will be considered. The journal does not usually accept clinical research, although preclinical neuropharmacological studies in humans may be considered. The journal only considers submissions in which the chemical structures and compositions of experimental agents are readily available in the literature or disclosed by the authors in the submitted manuscript. Only in exceptional circumstances will natural products be considered, and then only if the preparation is well defined by scientific means. Neuropharmacology publishes articles of any length (original research and reviews).Neuropharmacology also publishes succinct topical reviews on subjects within its remit. These reviews (of between 3000 and 5000 words) are commissioned by the Editorial Team or arise after correspondence with potential authors. Unsolicited reviews will be considered, but authors are encouraged to contact the Editor-in-Chief ahead of time of their intention to submit a review and to indicate clearly how the review differs from, and adds to, recent published reviews on related topics. On the basis of the case made by authors, potential overlap with planned Neuropharmacology content, and discussions with the Editorial Team, the Editor-in-Chief will provide authors with a decision regarding their proposed review as quickly as possible.The scope of the journal is broad. It covers many disciplines and spans molecules (e.g., molecular biology, biochemistry) through systems (e.g., neurophysiology) to behaviour (e.g. cognition, psychopharmacology). The journal covers all aspects of neuroscience with an emphasis on neurotransmitters and their receptors, ion channels, signalling, psychcopharmacology and animal models of disease, such as investigations on the neurobiology of cognition, depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, epilepsy, ischaemia, neuroprotection, neurodegeneration, drugs of abuse and pain.The journal publishes occasional Special Issues (and will consider publishing Supplements). Neurophysiology is an international scientific journal. It features a broad, interdisciplinary scope, which covers studies on molecular, cellular, and systemic neurophysiology, functional neuromorphology, neuropharmacology, and neurochemistry. Papers on neuromuscular physiology, neural mechanisms of higher nervous activity and behavior, neurophysiology, medical aspects of neurophysiology, and modeling of neural functions are also accepted. Both original experimental papers and review papers on contemporary problems of neuroscience can be submitted.

Organ of the 'Société française de psychiatrie de l'enfant et de l'adolescent', Neuropsychiatrie de l'enfance et de l'adolescence tackles all fields of child-adolescent psychiatry and offers a link between field and clinical work.As a reference and training tool for students and practitioners, the journal publishes original papers in child psychiatry as well as book reviews and conference reports.Each issue also offers a calendar of the main events dealing with the speciality.

The biological approach to mental disorders continues to yield innovative findings of clinical importance, particularly if methodologies are combined. This journal collects high-quality empirical studies from various experimental and clinical approaches in the fields of biological psychiatry, biological psychology, and neuropsychology. It features original, clinical, and basic research in the fields of neurophysiology and functional imaging, neuropharmacology and neurochemistry, neuroendocrinology and neuroimmunology, genetics, and their relationships with normal psychology and psychopathology. In addition, coverage includes studies on animal models of mental disorders and therapeutic interventions, and pharmacoelectroencephalographic studies, as well as reviews on new methodological approaches.

Neuropsychologia is an international interdisciplinary journal devoted to experimental and theoretical contributions that advance understanding of human cognition and behavior from a neuroscience perspective. The journal will consider for publication studies that link brain function with cognitive processes, including attention and awareness, action and motor control, executive functions and cognitive control, memory, language, and emotion and social cognition.Neuropsychologia has a long history of publishing lesion-deficit studies, and these remain highly appropriate for the journal. Submission of papers describing the use of other methodologies – most notably functional and structural neuroimaging, cognitive electrophysiology, and transcranial magnetic stimulation - is strongly encouraged, however. Animal studies are also welcome, provided they have a direct and explicitly specified impact on understanding human cognition and behavior. Studies of clinical populations that are primarily descriptive or intended to elucidate a clinical disorder, or that evaluate a therapeutic intervention, are not appropriate for the journal. Neuropsychological Rehabilitation publishes human experimental and clinical research related to rehabilitation, recovery of function, and brain plasticity. The journal is aimed at clinicians who wish to inform their practice in the light of the latest scientific research; at researchers in neurorehabilitation; and finally at researchers in cognitive neuroscience and related fields interested in the mechanisms of recovery and rehabilitation. Papers on neuropsychological assessment will be considered, and special topic reviews (2500-5000 words) addressing specific key questions in rehabilitation, recovery and brain plasticity will also be welcomed. Neuropsychology publishes primarily original, empirical research on the relation between brain and human cognitive, emotional, and behavioral function. Sought are submissions of experimental, cognitive, behavioral, and neuroimaging research with implications for neuropsychological theory, research, and practice.Articles that increase understanding of neuropsychological functions in both normal and disordered states and across the lifespan are encouraged. Neuropsychology focuses on basic research as well as on applied, clinical research that will stimulate systematic experimental, cognitive, and behavioral investigations as well as improve the effectiveness, range, and depth of clinical practice. Theoretical reviews, meta-analyses, and case reports with heuristic value are also published.

Neuropsychology Review is devoted to integrative review papers in all aspects of neuroscience contributing to a mechanistic understanding of human neuropsychology in normal and clinical populations.

The journal's broad perspective is supported by an outstanding, multidisciplinary editorial board. The journal aims to publish scholarly articles that summarize and synthesize strengths and weaknesses in the literature and propose novel hypotheses, models, methods of analysis and links to other fields. The journal Neuroradiology publishes papers on neuroradiological diagnosis and treatment, the application of basic sciences to both, and the use of apparatus. Also presented is important information on normal neuroanatomy and those aspects of neurophysiology that affect radiology in its widest sense.The journal offers papers that give critical guidance on choosing techniques as well as those that describe new advances. CT is now of prime importance. Many older methods are still appropriate. Ultrasound, positron emission tomography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are of growing significance.From time to time, the journal presents comprehensive review articles, invited or offered that are more purely didactic. Case reports describe examples of rarity or practical instructional content, as do single page case notes.
