Welcome to the University of Exeter Journal Guide
The Journal Guide helps you as a researcher at University of Exeter to identify open access options when publishing in different journals. Search by journal title, keywords or ISSN to discover journals in your research area. Check if journals are included in publisher agreements (discounts, or no APCs).
This is a new tool, we’d love your feedback: on this Microsoft form.
If you have any questions, visit our website or contact the Open Research team.

Institutional Agreement
This journal is included in the Wiley Read & Publish agreement:Publish open access without publishing fees in all Wiley hybrid and fully open access journals when responsible corresponding author has an eligible University of Exeter affiliation.
Eligible article types are: original research articles, including but not limited to articles classified by Wiley as Case Study, Commentary, Data Article, Education, Lecture, Method and Protocol, Perspective, Practice and Policy, Rapid Publication, Research Article, Review Article, Short Communication, Technical Note
When publishing through the Wiley agreement, Creative Commons Attribution Licence CC BY is strongly encouraged. More information on the Wiley website.
When submitting to an open access journal in this agreement, during submission use the 'Account code tool' to look up and select University of Exeter. When submitting to a hybrid journal, complete the publisher forms after acceptance listing Exeter affiliation. The open access request will be sent to our institutional account.
Please note, the Wiley agreement does not have unlimited publishing in open access journals. The publishing allowance for Wiley fully open access journals ran out on 2nd November 2026. If your article is accepted to a Wiley open access journal in November or December 2026, we will need to pay an APC, please contact the Open Research team before completing the payment forms to discuss your options for funding this.
The publishing allowance for fully open access journals in the Wiley agreement in 2027 is set to be the same as 2026 so we expect articles accepted to Wiley open access journals from October 2027 onwards may not be covered by the agreement and will incur an APC.
For articles that do not have an Exeter corresponding author in hybrid journals, select the subscription publishing option and self-archive the accepted manuscript in ORE using Rights Retention.
